Bookings 

Do you have availability on these dates….? Please see our booking page  first, it has a direct link to our booking manager beds24 to show you the availability of all rooms. If the availability isn’t there then feel free to email us so we can try to rearrange some rooms. 

What is beds24? Beds24 is our booking management system. This system is used by thousands of hostels and hotels worldwide. They store your information and process payments via PayPal.

Do you offer season discounts? If you are staying for 2 months or more, please email us so we can offer your long term discounts.

Do you offer group discounts? If your group size is over 10 people, please email so we can offer you a discount. This is usually between 5 & 10%

Do you offer long term discounts? If you stay longer than 21 days you can enjoy one day free.

What is the cancellation policy? Cancellations to bookings over 90 days and made directly through our site will receive a deposit refund (minus 500yen admin fee). Cancellations to bookings over 30 days notice will forfeit the deposit. Cancellations within 30 days and no-shows will be charged 100% of the booking balance. Alterations to bookings must be made with more than 30 days notice, to prevent being charge for booked days. Deposits non-refundable to bookings via bookings.com due to commission charges of bookings.com. 

Can I forward my luggage? Yes, we can store your luggage ahead of your arrival, there are delivery companies operating throughout Japan at reasonable rates. Companies include JALABC, Yamato Unyuu (Kuroneko), Sagawa Express. You can specify the date and time you’d like your bags to arrive at your destination up to 7 days after pick-up, making it a convenient way to send your bags and store them temporarily if necessary. You can send items from baggage forwarding service stations located at airports, in hotels or shopping malls, most convenience stores and supermarkets.

Prices range from about 1000yen to 5000yen per item depending on the size and they can deliver by the following day or two.

About the Hostel

What are the facilities in the rooms? Dorms rooms have bunk beds, each bed has a linen, towel, private light and a plug. Private rooms are traditional Japanese futons. All rooms have tatami mats, heaters, linen, towels and storage.

Do you have en-suite bathrooms? No, all rooms have communal bathrooms. 

Do you have cooking facilities? Yes, we have a fully equipped kitchen, we even have a bread maker.

Is breakfast included? At present breakfast is not included, but we do have snacks for sale such as Cliff bars and homemade cakes. 

Do you have communal areas? We have two large communal areas, a dinning area and a lounge with log fire and HD projector for films. 

Do you have a drying room? We have a very large drying room for the hostel size, this is one of our best features. There is always plenty of space. 

Are there washing facilities? We have a washer and a dryer available for guest at a small charge

Are there lockers available? Small lockers are available, you will need your own lock. We are also happy to keep passports in our safe.

Is there WiFi? Yes, the hostel has extremely fast broadband available through WiFi. 

What kind of guest stay at the hostel? We have a wide variety of guests stay, usually in the 20’s. Due to the large communal spaces, everyone is usually very welcoming. Most people come to Myoko for the amazing snow, as the town doesn’t have the same night life as bigger resorts. So most guest are very keen riders and usually up for first lifts or backcountry hikes.

 About the Town 

How far from the ski lift is the hostel? 3 minutes walk. The hostel is the closest hostel in town to the ski lift.

How close is the hostel to the town? The main street is only a 2 minute walk, with many bars and restaurants all within 5 minutes.

Where is the closest grocery store? There is a small store in town, that has things for breakfasts or simple dinners, but we also offer hostel shuttles to the local supermarket to help you stock up on supplies.

Where is the closest international ATM? The closest ATM is 3 minutes walk at the post office opposite the lift office. 

 

Rental

How close is a rental shop? The closet rentals are 2 minutes walk.

For group rentals and lessons I would recommend Myoko SnowSports. They can arrange pick-up. If you want this to be organised before you arrive.  then you can pre order with Myoko SnowSports by clicking this link, downloading the form then emailing it back to  reservations@myokosnowsports.com. This is an excellent option if you are a large group. 

Do you have rental discounts?

For solo travellers, I would recommend Spicy Rentals where our guests enjoy a discount. 

 

Other activities

What happens at New Years? New Years is a big celebration in Japan. In the town there are temple blessing and locals offer saki, these visits involve the whole community and are generally an awesome cultural experience. There will also be firework displays and night skiing on some of the lower slopes.

 

Getting about

Can I visit other resorts? Yes, there are public and private services available. These can be arranged on your behalf through our staff. Here is a link to the public Snow Shuttle. There is a much more frequent shuttle between the resorts Akakura Onsen, Ikenotaira and Suginohara. The hostel is a 3 minute walk from the bus station.

Does the hostel arrange trips to other resorts? Sometimes we can take small groups to show you the other awesome spots for a fee. Usually Seki Onsen.  However, this depends on weather conditions and whether the van is needed for hostel purposes. The hostel van is mainly reserved for guest pick up/ drop offs and super market trips.

What is the closest airport? Tyoko – Haneda
What is the best way to get to the hostel? Most people take the train, for cost effective and time saving. Train times can be found here. Train connection planner –  Hyperdia. The closest train station is Myoko-Kogen. Joetsu-Myoko is the closest Shinkansen station which offers a free bus to the resort.
Does the hostel offer pick-up? If you need a transfer from Myoko Kogen station, please email us so this can be arranged well in advanced for a fee of 500 yen/person.
